THE STORY
It was a gloomy February day in London and I was out for the night at the Sunday Service like no other. Pastor Dr. Banana was spinning records at Lion and Lamb, spreading his message of biblical proportions, as he called it, on the dance floor. It was a music church gathering that we should all attend on Sundays.
I danced and meditated it all away ad I couldn’t stop thinking that the feeling of belonging, connection and a safe space that music and dancing brings is stronger than that of any religion in my world. There I was on a healing journey, learning to be unapologetically me, finding happiness in as many things that surround me, and practicing gratefulness. Rewiring, rewriting, relearning. Everything seemed to come into place in my mind in that moment.
The Sunday Service ended and we all transported to a place of comfort and easy vibes, a safe space, where the world fades away behind closed doors and all that’s left are the soft, cloud-like embraces of Moroccan rugs. Here I am grounded and surrounded by my tribe, sharing laughs, hugs and good times, with the best music selection floating around the room. It’s a moment of a perfect flow and interconnectedness. It is the most intimate place I can ever go to with my friends. Here we are who we are, we remove the layers, we no longer hide, we are we. It’s Drugs on Rugs. An intimate non judgement space.
But Drugs on Rugs is not just about the space. We are here to celebrate the amazing humans who make this world a better place, to co-create and express ourselves in ways that bring joy and healing to ourselves and others. We wear our message of awareness and gratitude on our sleeves, literally – on T-shirts and hoodies that help us spread our thinking far and wide.
Because here’s the thing: the world can only become a better place if we work together, with a collaborative attitude that brings subcultures closer to each other and to Mother Nature, our only shared home. We are here to challenge the status quo and the current systems that hold us back – we are the cultural movement of the people, for the people.
Drugs on Rugs is a mindset, a playground where compassion and creativity intersect with love for life and each other. This is where we come to celebrate, elevate and break the old systems one brick at a time.
We are Drugs on Rugs, and we are a soft spot to be!
